Our Farm

Otiwhiti is 16km northwest of Hunterville, 67km from Palmerston North and 60km from Wanganui. Otiwhiti Station is an extensively run sheep and beef operation, partnering with Westoe (near Marton), an intensive finishing block that has a portion of irrigation. The Otiwhiti buildings include the homestead, manager’s residence, cadets quarters, cookhouse, and other residential staff dwellings. Otiwhiti is a small community with a family feel.

  • Small bedroom with a single bed covered in a purple blanket and patterned throw, folded clothes on top, wooden closet with open door, and window.

    Accommodation

In 2014 “The Hood” was moved onto site at Otiwhiti from Flock House in Bulls. Built in 1974, now renovated to provide centrally heated single room accommodation.

Cadets share a communal kitchen, lounges, bathrooms, drying room and laundry.

  • Two men working outdoors in a hilly, foggy landscape. One man is holding a piece of equipment and the other is busy working by a container.

    Classroom

While most of the learning is done out on farm, an integral part of the school is the classroom facilities, which were originally Otairi School.

The school facilities include a swimming pool and a community hall.

  • A white wooden building with a sign reading "Cook House" on the exterior, under a partly cloudy sky.

    Cookhouse

Located next to The Hood the cadets are provided with all their meals Monday to Friday, with an opportunity for cadets to cook for themselves during the weekends.

The cookhouse provides a great gathering space for cadets, staff and visitors.
